Tangence is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal of literary studies, published in French. Its mission is to examine literature at its intersection with other fields of knowledge, whether in the arts, the exact sciences, or the humanities and social sciences.

Formerly called Urgences (1981-1991), the journal developed an editorial section at the turn of the year 2000 with two collections: Confluences and Émergence .

Over the decades, the Tangence journal and its collections have helped strengthen ties between the constituents of the Quebec University network, in particular, between the Department of Letters and Humanities of the University of Quebec in Rimouski and the Department of Letters and Social Communication of the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières.
